Halloween Crafts - Simple Ideas

The wonderful thing about decorating for Halloween is that there are no rules. You don’t have to over think Halloween. You can get in touch with your inner child and just let loose. It is all about the scare, the ghostly fright, and most importantly the fun! Use bold colors, food items, and homemade crafts.

Here a few simple craft ideas to decorate your home:

1. Embellish your home with food items; use pumpkins, gourds, and other fall fruits, even apples and pears. These items can be painted using a paint brush and acrylic paint. Painting pumpkins is a wonderful family activity for all ages! For a perfect paint job every time; use stencils.

Tape the stencils onto your fruit, paint, and then peel stencil away.

Feeling brave? A carved pumpkin with a candle inside looks eerie and ghostly at night! Instead of using a regular candle try a flameless battery candle.

Decorate fruit with fabric, felt, buttons, and ribbon. Use glue dots to safely adhere items to the fruit and make it fun for all ages.

2. Candy is a great way to add spooky fun to your home!  Decorate sugar cookies into pumpkin shapes with orange frosting and small candies for the face, or ghostly shapes with white frosting and a black icing face. Place cookies on a Halloween Themed Cookie Tray.

Make fun spooky ghosts; wrap lollipops in white fabric, tie them with black yarn, and then draw a spooky face on the front.

Another fun edible decoration is to make popcorn balls. Wrap the popcorn balls into plastic wrap and then decorate the outside of the plastic wrap with Halloween spider rings.

3. Use items that you have around the home and then embellish with festive frightful fun! Decorate a wicker basket with black and orange ribbon; attach little spiders along the rim of the basket. Then place Halloween candy inside of the basket, to easily hand out on Halloween night.

Take a walk around your yard or nearby park.   Find a straight branch with lots of little branches for hanging Halloween ornaments. Optional: Spray paint the branch a glossy black. Glue a piece of floral foam into the center of terra cotta pot. Insert the branch into a terra-cotta pot and then place a small amount of un-popped corn along the top of the floral foam. Decorate the branches with beads and Halloween ornaments.

The un-popped corn can also be used to fill glass canning jars, place orange and black votives inside of the canning jars for a festive inexpensive Halloween look.

Use some of my ideas and embellish what you already have on hand for SUPER-natural Halloween décor.
