Lovey Dovey Foam Butterflies
Age 3yrs & Up

Materials:

2 Heart Shaped Foam Pieces
Several Small Heart Shaped Foam Pieces
with Adhesive Back
Magnet with Adhesive Back
Standard Size Clothes Pin
2 Googly Eyes
1 Pipe Cleaner
Glue Dots or Glue Stick

Instructions:

  1. Take two heart shaped foam pieces and adhere the points together with a glue dot.  The two hearts will be the butterfly's wings.
  2. Next place a magnet on the back of the hearts in the center where the two points meet.
  3. Take the clothes pin and thread a pipe cleaner through the hinge. 
  4. Next form the pipe cleaner into antennas.
  5. Place a glue dot on the back of the clothes pin and glue it to the center of the butterfly.
  6. Attach googly eyes to the top of the clothes pin for the butterfly's eyes.
  7. Embellish the butterfly's wings with adhesive heart shape foam pieces.
  8. Place the butterfly on the kitchen fridge for all to enjoy.  Even better use the butterfly to hold a Valentine's Day Card!
Lovey Dovey Wooden Butterflies
Ages 5yrs & Up

Materials:

2 Wooden Hearts
1 Small Decorative Clothes Pin
Acrylic Paints
Paint Brush
Magnet with Adhesive Backing
Pipe Cleaner
Wood Glue or Tacky Glue

Instructions:

  1. Paint the two wooden hearts and decorative clothes pin.  Allow time to dry.
  2. Glue the two hearts together at the point.
  3. Then take the small clothes pin and thread a pipe cleaner through the center hinge.  Form the pipe cleaner into antennas for the butterfly.
  4. Next, glue the clothes pin onto the front of the hearts.
  5. Paint the butterfly's face onto the top front of the clothes pin.
  6. Allow glue to dry.
  7. Once, everything is dry turn the butterfly over and attach the magnet.
  8. Hang on the fridge.
